People that know me will confirm I have a Transformers addiction, so I was really hoping that this movie was not a flop like so many extended series' of films have been before. I was not let down.
It seems to be with Transformers that the films get better each time. This is weird as usually films get worse down the line before epicly failing. Not this time.
The main talking point I've seen is the absense of Megan Fox, now I know this is hard to deal with but the new girl in the film, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, is pretty much the perfect replacement.
Megan Fox got too big for her boots, made some Nazi remarks and that's the reason Spielberg and Bay axed her character.
I liked the fact that in this film they did make a few referrances to her to make it more natural. There is many a director that would have just cut the character completely and pretended it was never there.
I'm not a fan of 3D movies the majority of the time due to one simple fact. It's hardly ever used.
However for Transformers I went to see both the 2D version and the 3D version. I had read reports that the 3D in Transformers was the best since Avatar. For those of you who have not seen Avatar, it was the best 3D movie ever.
I'd like the confirm that fact. The 3D was awesome. They used it well, played on it's advantages.
Saying that it doesn't mean the 2D version was any less epic, either one is brilliant so it's just dependant on your preferances.
I will add that my girlfriend, who hates 3D with a passion, said that it was really good.
The film was extremely long, 2 hours and 37 minutes. There was at no point a time where I got bored, or hoped it was ending soon. In fact time flew by. It was only at the end that I noticed how much time had elapsed.
The graphics, design, destruction, new autobots, new decepticons, new bad guys, ending. It was all epic.
I would not be surprised if this is the last Transformers in the series, but if there is anyone that can keep it going Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are definately the two candidates that stand out.
A great film for Transformers fans, Sci Fi fans and general movie fans.
My Rating:4 And A Half Stars
